The Shelly Sachs Foundation
Assisting Families Living With, Through & Beyond Cancer
The Shelly Sachs Foundation is a 501c3/w9 nonprofit organization assisting families living with, through, and beyond cancer. The foundation is in loving memory of Shelly Sachs and was created by Aaron Sachs and his children to assist families fighting cancer. The Foundation's purpose is to offer comfort to those who suffer from the burden of cancer, which not only changes the patient but also the lives of their families. Cancer patients may suffer tremendous hardship emotionally and financially. We hope to take some of that worry and burden away from them.
Types of assistance that The Shelly Sachs Foundation helps provide include:
- Pharmacy prescriptions that are not covered by insurance.
- Durable medical equipment.
- Nutritional assistance.
- Medical procedures that are not covered by insurance but are requested by the treating physician.
- Insurance co-payments.
- Transportation costs (fuel costs, hotel stays related to medical treatments, and more).
Shelly Sachs Wig Room
Aaron Sachs & Associates, P.C., The Shelly Sachs Foundation, GYN Cancers Alliance, and Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks have partnered to create the Shelly Sachs Wig Room. This partnership is to ensure every woman can receive quality services, no matter the type of cancer that afflicts them. We feel strongly that we need to support as many women as possible during their cancer journey, and Shelly Sachs Wig Room allows us to do just that.
The professionals of GYN Cancers Alliance have assisted in countless wig fittings, so they know what a trauma it can be for women with cancer to lose their hair. It truly isn’t “just hair,” it is so much more. For many, hair is one of the most beautiful and important parts of their personal identity and cultural upbringing. It can even connect people to precious memories, like a first haircut as a child, or your mother brushing your hair each morning before school. Hair is an incredibly special part of who we are, and so when hair starts to fall out from chemotherapy and other treatments, it can feel like a painful loss. For any experiencing cancer-related hair loss, please know that such feelings of loss and sadness are valid.
The first question a cancer patient will ask after diagnosis usually relates to hair loss after treatment. We know the need is there, and we know this work is important. This partnership between the Shelly Sachs Foundation, GYN Cancers Alliance, and Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks helps put hair loss worries to rest for women throughout the region. Cancer-related hair loss is a significant life change, but you are not alone. The Shelly Sachs Wig Room is here to help you feel like yourself again.
GYN Cancers Alliance provides the following to applicants:
- Free wig
- Free wig stand
- Care instructions
- Special gift bag

Many of these events support cancer research and related causes, and several specifically benefit The Shelly Sachs Foundation. Among these are the Dinner on the Diamond event, an annual dinner held at Hammons Field in partnership with the Springfield Cardinals, and the Diamonds on the Diamond Raffle, which provides one lucky winner with a custom-made, one-of-a-kind diamond pendant.
Our Testimonials
-
“My husband was in a car accident, we called Aaron Sachs, and are very glad we did! First of all, they sent someone to our home to interview my husband, so he did not have to drive all the way to Springfield to their office while he was in pain.”Former Client
-
“I was rear-ended by a non-insured driver. My car was totaled and I ended up having surgery on my shoulder. I was thrilled to get a settlement way larger than I could have dreamed.”Former Client
