Tom Kapstrom

Attorney

Tom Kapstrom is an experienced trial attorney in Missouri. Having graduated law school in 2003, and with a long history of community involvement, Tom understands the needs of his clients as well as the intricacies of the laws and complex procedural issues associated with trial practice.

Tom was born and raised in California, before moving with his family to Toledo, Ohio for his last two years of high school. While in high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy through its Delayed Entry Program. Tom attended boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Command between his junior and senior years in high school. Tom then served as a reservist in the United States Navy at the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Center in Encino, California, until 1991.

After graduating high school, Tom spent the next nine years working in various jobs including managing an import/ export company with East and West coast wholesale divisions, as well as numerous retail locations on both coasts. During his time in the firearms industry, Tom presented lectures for both BATF and DOJ regarding the acquisition and disposition of firearms. He also consulted with state and federal legislators regarding current and future firearms legislation. Tom later worked as a skydive instructor and test parachutist before enrolling in college in 1996.

Tom received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from California State University, Bakersfield in 2000 where he was a member of the Political Science Honor Society and Theta Chi fraternity. As an undergraduate student, Tom worked for a capital crimes appellate attorney on several high profile cases, one of which led to the creation of California’s anti-stalking laws. Tom later received his Juris Doctorate degree from Whittier Law School in 2003. Throughout his tenure in law school, Tom was a Certified Law Clerk and worked for two separate City Attorney’s Offices in Orange County, California. After graduating from law school, Tom worked for a criminal defense firm in Bakersfield, California before going to work for an insurance defense firm.

In June of 2013, Tom and his wife Connie moved to Springfield, Missouri. Tom opened his own law practice specializing in personal injury civil litigation where he handled personal injury cases from client intake through jury trial. In September 2022, Tom joined the team at Aaron Sachs and Associates where he continues to represent injured people in the community and throughout Missouri. Tom currently lives in Springfield with his wife Connie, his son Jakobie, and their four dogs Riley, Seamus, Aonghas, and Fiona. Tom and his wife Connie are both certified foster parents who believe in helping the youth of their community through love, support, and mentoring.
