How Our Fees Work
When you hire a Missouri personal injury attorney, you are no doubt concerned with how you pay the legal fees. This makes good sense: no one wants to be hit months later or at the end of the case with a bill for services that he or she cannot afford, or that is surprisingly higher than expected.
At Aaron Sachs & Associates, we understand this concern. As with any time you hire someone, you want to know what you are going to pay them. Particularly when you have been in an auto accident or suffered a workplace injury, your focus needs to be on healing and recovery. If a family member has passed away or you have suffered a traumatic brain injury, you have probably incurred a number of new bills and may be unsure how you are going to pay them. When a crisis such as a personal injury strikes, the last thing you need is more bills.
Because our clients are often unable to pay attorneys’ fees up front, we work on a contingent fee basis. A contingent fee means that the fee for our services is contingent upon recovering money in your personal injury claim. The fee is a percentage of the recovery.
This creates a tremendous benefit for our clients by aligning our interests with those of our clients. With a contingent fee, the attorney and client both want the same thing: to obtain the maximum monetary recovery possible for your injuries. Working on a contingent basis means we fight for our clients as if our livelihood depends on it, and we only take on cases that we believe in.
The contingent fee is not paid until the case is resolved. There is nothing to pay up front.
As a result of the contingent fee arrangement, many of our clients who otherwise would not be able to afford an attorney are able to do so. In hundreds of cases, we have found that this fee arrangement works well for our clients. Particularly in complex cases or cases of severe injury, which may require hundreds of hours of legal work, the contingent fee is often the only way a client can afford an attorney.
Clients are also responsible for case expenses in their cases. These are the costs of building the file, such as medical records expenses, accident report charges, filing fees, etc. But these too are typically not paid until there is a recovery in the case. Again, there is nothing to pay up front.
