Pregnancy Care Center - Springfield, Missouri — Community Service is a central value of the Aaron Wm. Sachs &
Associates personal injury law firm in Springfield, MO. In addition to
Aaron's own many community service projects, firm member Joel A. Block,
a firm attorney, also volunteers his time to causes near and dear to his heart.
One of the organizations he believes strongly in is the Pregnancy Care
Center of Springfield Missouri. Joel has served on the Board of Directors
of the Pregnancy Care Center since 2005. He is an active participant and
volunteer in many of the organization's efforts, including the April
2009 fundraiser for the center that featured renowned print and TV journalist,
Cal Thomas. For more information about the Center and/or volunteer opportunities,
Developmental Center of the Ozarks (DCO) — DCO's mission is to make a positive difference in the community
by providing services which enables individuals to reach and maintain
their optimal level of development. DCO offers an Early Child Care &
Education Program which provides child care services for children with
and without developmental disabilities; Therapy & Rehabilitation Services
for individuals with developmental disabilities; an Adult Technology &
Learning Program which provides accredited center based and community
integration classes as well as learning labs; a Community Employment Program
that assists eligible individuals in obtaining and maintaining gainful
employment; and finally Adult Day Care Services designed to assist older
individuals or those with developmental disabilities maintain independence
while in a safe environment.
Isabel's House, Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks — The purpose of Isabel's House is to have immediate refuge
for children ages birth to 12 whose families are in crisis. The goal of
Isabel's House is to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and
neglect. Families in crisis receive relief, education, support and training
services. Isabel's House was created to look and feel like a home,
encouraging a nurturing and comfortable place for children in need.
Dickerson Park Zoo — The zoo is home to more than 500 animals representing 160 species.
Themed exhibit regions represent five geographic areas and the Diversity
of Life found throughout the world. Dickerson Park Zoo helps to educate
the public through exhibition of animals and organized programs and activities.
In house and outreach educational programs are valuable services offered
and used by the community. Annual events include: Kids' Zoobilee,
Zoofest, Pancakes in the Park, Art Gone Wild, Ice Cream Safari, and the
always popular Halloween Spooktacular.
